Kyle Beard
Runner-up finish in Kenneth Mitchell Memorial
Kyle Beard returned with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals on Thursday afternoon at Springfield Raceway (Springfield, Mo.) for the $5,000 prize. After timing in fourth fastest in a field of 30 cars, Beard shredded a tire while running in second in his heat that dropped him to the tail. Coming in second behind Hayden Ross in his B-Main, Kyle locked into the 17th-starting position for the A-Main. Wheeling his way into the Top-10, Beard passed nine cars in the 40-lap affair to finish eighth. (Jimmy Dearing | STLRacing.com photo)
On Friday afternoon, Kyle trekked to Texarkana 67 Speedway (Texarkana, Ark.) for the two-day Kenneth Mitchell Memorial. With 25 Crate Late Models entered, Beard locked his spot into Saturday night’s $5,555-to-win A-Main with a second place-finish in his heat.
Gaining momentum late in the 55-lapper, Kyle reeled in a second-place finish. He followed Tyler Stevens across the line with Jon Mitchell, J.C. Waller, and David Winslett rounding out the Top-5.
